When Vivienne Harr was 8 years old, she saw a photo she would never forget. It was a photo of two young boys carrying large, heavy rocks on their backs. These children were the same age as Vivienne. But they did not have the same freedom and opportunities (自由和机会) that she has.

具体地说,就是把生活与课堂教学结合起来,用格言励志、幽默和笑话驱散、减轻学生的痛苦和压力,缓解学生的疲劳,让他们在艰难跋涉中感到快乐,从而淡忘学习所带来的紧张和疲劳。在练口语时,尽量找学生感兴趣的话题;在培养学生阅读能力时,尽量挑一些学生喜爱看的文章,由浅入深,由易到难。背诵是单调而又枯燥的劳动,一定要选择学生精力最充沛的时间进行背诵,这样不会打消学生对英语的兴趣,而且效果好;反之,若在非常疲惫的状态下背诵,兴趣容易消磨耗尽,效果也不好。
