初一英文演讲稿1
facing this audience on the stage, i have the exciting feeling of participating in the march of history, for what we are facing today is more than a mere competition or contest.
it is an assembly of some of china's most talented and motivated people, representatives of a younger generation that are preparing themselves for the coming of a new century.
i'm grateful that i've been given this opportunity, at such a historic moment, to stand here as a spokesman of my generation and to take a serious look back at the past years, a crucial period for every one of us and for this nation as well.
though it is only within my power to tell about my personal experience, and only a tiny fragment of it at that, it still represents, i believe, the root of a spirit which has been essential to me and to all the people bred by the past years.
in my elementary years, there was a little girl in the class who worked very hard but somehow could never do satisfactorily in her lessons.
the teacher asked me to help her, and it was obvious that she expected a lot from me.
but as a young boy, restless, thoughtless, i always tried to evade her so as to get more time to enjoy myself.
one day before the final exam, she came up to me and said, could you please explain this to me? i want very much to do better this time.
i started explaining, and finished in a hurry.
pretending not to notice her still confused eyes, i ran off quickly.
nat surprisingly, she again did very badly in the exam.
and two months later, at the beginning of the new semester, word came of her death of blood cancer.
no one ever knew about the little task i failed to fulfill, but i couldn't forgive myself.
i simply couldn't forget her eyes, which seem to be asking, why didn't you do a little more to help me, when it was so easy for you? why didn't you understand a little better the trust placed in you, so that i would not have to leave this world in such pain and regret?
i was about eight or nine years old at that time, but in a way it was the very starting point of my life, for i began to understand the word responsibility and to learn to always do my duties faithfully and devotedly, for the implications of that sacred word has dawned on me: the mutual need and trust of people, the co-operation and inter-reliance which are the very foundation of human society.

my dear friends:
do you know what is the most precious and everlasting thing in the world?
money? you may lose everything you have if you do not use money carefully enough. youth? in one?'s long life youth is like a flash in the pan and no one in the world has the secret to keep his youth forever. beautiful look? many people pray that they can get hold of beauty, but it disappears far more quickly than they can imagine. and when they are in real trouble beauty itself feels helpless. a good job? as you grow older and your brain and hands cannot work as fast as before, it will become other people?'s wealth.
then what is the most precious and ev-erlasting thing in the world?
when you are far away from your fam-ily and feel especially lonely, who will you think of? when you stand on the crossroad in your life and do not know which way to choose, who will you think of? when you encounter greater difficulties than ever and need other?'s encouragement, who will you think of? when you decide to make the greatest decision in your favorite course, who will you think of? who gave birth to you? who brought you up? who shed cheer-ful tears when seeing you make achieve-ments? whose wholehearted blessing will be always with you no matter how far you will go?
yes, it's mother that you will always think of and it's mother's love that will be always together with you.
i once heard a moving story about a mother. two children were drawn into the flood and the situation was very dangerous. their mother jumped into the water without the least hesitation. but you know the moth-er could not swim at all. jumping into the water means she might lose her life. but at that time she had no time to think about herself. she just wanted to try all means to save her children.
maybe her courage moved the god. the miracle happened. she finally succeeded in saving her children one by one. and she, of course, felt extremely ex-hausted.
my friends, mother's love is the greatest love. mother's love is the safest love. no matter you are happy or sorrowful, rich or poor, mother's love will always stay with you.
thank you all!

good afternoon, honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen, the title of my speech is defeat makes me more confident.
most people may think that defeat is a kind of obstacle that prevents you from being successful. quite the contrary, i believe defeat makes me more confident.
as you may know, if you can not be an excellent loser you will never win. everything in my life always shows both my advantages and disadvantages. i have been entering a lot of contests. i don’t care about the results, but feel it is more important to learn something during the process.
after i failed in the contests each time, the judges always gave me useful comments and suggestion addressing my shortcomings and helped me improve myself step by step. so, now i am more self-confident to face any challenges and believe i will be the final winner in my life.

good evening, ladies and gentlemen:
i’d like to start with a group of pictures.
"modern and advanced"? this society forgets, and ignores the other two thirds of human beings. it's far from the ideal! we call ideal as a utopian, a place where reality does not exist. a few people still look forward to the ideals. we make fun of them, considering they are naive. will we still be content to live in such a society, if misfortune drops to us? no! of cause not!
when we feel the warmth of the sun, these people, endure great sorrows and pains. can we imagine that? they are our brother and sisters!
facing them, will we still complain about our own misfortune?
facing them, will we still have the mood shouting for our own freedom? facing them, will we still want to have more and more unnecessary stuff?
they are unable to meet their needs, even the basic needs of survival! everyone, as a member of humanity, shouldn't feel ashamed? our luxury deprived their lives, our indifference violated our soul, and our barbarity destroyed human civilization!
what's the ideal society? it's a society no one worries about their living, a society no one is refused from education, a society everyone can pursue his/her own happiness! the ideal society is filled with love, joy and kindness. in that society, we can touch the other's hearts, we can share our dreams and most important, we can just be the true men!
let's break the ethnic divide, bridge the gap between rich and poor, hand in hand, to build a great wall, protecting us from evil; to construct a steady bridge, connecting reality to the ideal society! let's pursue for that, that's the only way to the bright future! they are watching us! thank you!
