women who ate soy regularly as children have a lower risk of breast cancer, american researchers report. and men who eat fish several times a week have a lower risk of colon cancer, a second team of researchers have told the american association for cancer research.
the studies add to a growing body of evidence about the role of diet in cancer. cancer eperts now believe that up to two-thirds of all cancers come from lifestyle factors such as smoking, diet and lack of eercise.
the us national cancer institute and researchers at the university of hawaii found that women who ate the most soy-based foods, such as tofu and miso, when aged 5 to 11, reduced their risk of developing breast cancer by 58 per cent. it was not clear how soy might prevent cancer, though compounds in soy called isoflavones have estrogen-like effects.
a second study showed that men who ate fish at least five times a week had a 40 per cent lower risk of developing colorectal cancer compared with men who ate fish less than once a week.
many kinds of fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which interfere with the cyclooygenase-2 or co-2 enzyme. co-2 affects inflammation, which may play a role in tumour growth.

the findings suggest that a heavier weight in middle age may mean a higher risk of dementia later in life.

the study compared mental abilities to body mass inde (bmi), a
measurement of weight in relation to height used to define overweight and obesity. a bmi of 25 or more indicates overweight, and 30 or more is obese.
the study also investigated the relationships between bmi and cognitive function in 2,223 healthy men and women between the ages of 32 and 62 in france through the use of four cognitive tests.
the study found a higher bmi was associated with lower cognitive test scores. results from a test involving word memory recall show people with a bmi of 20 remembered an average of nine out of 16 words, while people with a bmi of 30 remembered an average of seven out of 16 words.

people’ hopes and ideals.
Different people have different ideas about success; cause people’s hopes and ideas vary from one another. But I am sure every success is dear to everybody, cause it is not easy to come by, cause in the process of our striving for success, we got both our body and soul tempted, meanwhile we are enlightened by the most valuable qualities of human beings: love, patient, courage and sense of responsibility. i think my dad was a hero for me when i was a young child. we'd go fishing, walks, and other fun things for a kid.
every child has a good and great father, and so do i. my dad played a very important role in my daily life`````eactly speaking, in my past 16 years.
my father always stands in the center of my life， from past till now and possibly in the future.
my family was rather poor when i was in my childhood. we didn't have our own house and had to live in a shabby， small room rented from my father's factory. the room was so small that there was little space for people to walk. i didn't have my own bed and had to sleep with my parents. this is terrible both for my parents and me.
but father made this all different!he works very hard on his own business, now we have our own 2 housese,surly,i have my own room.and he take our family so much happiness, richer and richer.
when i was little, i did everything with my dad. you could always find me sitting on his knee or walking and doing everything with him. every night he would read me a bed time story and make the voices of each character.
i learnt a lot from my daddy. i learnt to never take things to seriously and to always smile.
like many other fathers, my dad and i also has generation gap. he is not good at or even can’t work the computer. so when i sitting at the computer desk,he will say something like ‘you should pay more attention to your study’, ‘don’t waste time on the computer games’ , ‘it will be bad for your eyes’ and so on. how can i- a computer fan – reduce time on computer? so i continue studying and playing on it
years pasted, my father is over 45 now. it is time for me to look after him and i am sure i will do and we will live an even better life. and i will say,i really love you dad,cause you are the hero in my mind.

On a beautiful winter day, I happened to meet the lovely spirit------
Black Faced Spoonbill, a type of migratory bird, which spends winter at Hong-Shu-Lin in my city every year. Covered with snow-white feathers, it has black legs and a black beak. Besides the blacks and whites, an amazing splash of yellow is under its neck. So elegant that I couldn’t help loving it at first sight.
With a big and spoon-shaped beak, it can clasp fishes easily, which makes it a powerful hunter in birds.
However, with human epansion and pollution, only around 20 ones are living all over the world.
Like the eleven swan princes in Andersen’s Fairy Tale, the Black Faced Spoonbills have always been struggling to find a tiny rock which can offer them a momentary tranquility. Fortunately, they have found one in my beloved home. I would always hold them dearly to my heart and wish they would return with flocks of chicks in the following years, and singing……
Oh, I have a home, such a beautiful home, where I play and rest happily.
Oh, give them a home, such a wonderful home, where the spoonbills play all day.
